Category: Let's talk
2009 brought us Gaga, Britney, and a love Wof problems with Kanye West. With all other things aside, including "All the single ladies" we will get to them later.. What was the thing that stood out to you the most in 09 and what do you never want to see again?
...... I loved Gaga mainia but, I wonder if she was putting subliminal messaging in her songs especially "Poker Face" that was one song that never got out of my head. She gave an all never view on fashion and sexual opinion as well as shedding light upon art in music.
.....Kanye West all year startinf up his fueds all over 2009, he is personally one I do not want to see anymore of in 2010. It is not that I am a huge Taylor Swift Fan, but I do not like seeing a singer who won an award be put down like he did to her. Shame on him.
.....The Chris Brown VS Rihanna fued was oh so juicy but oh akward at the same time. He beat her ass because she gave him herpes. Wow, hollywood and the zone have one thing in common.... drama drama drama.
...... Death of Legends....Michael Jackson, Farrah Faucet, Patrick Swayzie, Britney Murphy, Billy Mays RIP
I know there is plenty more where that came from tell me more about your memories ups and downs and things that made 2009 Rock or Suck.
I don't know most of these celebrities, but I'd do a hell of alot more than beat someone if he gave me a sexual disease. I take stds very seriously and honesty even more so. I was glad that PASOK finally got in. I wish that Olympiakos could've won the European championship. I didn't like the riots, protests and fires in Greece this summer and wish those would stop, but sadly, they're a part of life. I also hated the fact that America went digital with television.
It's kind of sad that all the things mentioned in the original post involved American pop culture.
Obama's Inauguration, The protests in Iran, the H1N1 flu, and the typhoons that devistated Manila were really big in 2009.
I only have two words for this subject. Fuck twilight!
our politics has done loads of changing.
We had our first Black *gasp* Yes, I said black and half muslim president. It was historic to say the least. For both the democratic and republican parties this was an achievement. Yes, the right does dislike him, but nevertheless we had our first black president. Another thing was he was born on American soil but not on the mainland. He was born in Hawaii.
i don't think he beat her cuz of herpes, she flipped out over a text..regardless, crazy year. very glad about obama, kanyea is a douche, twilight is awesome and fuck stupid swine flu. oh yeah and of course, R.I.P all celebs that died. i wonder what 2010 will bring?
H1n1 was huge this year, but why? I still wonder.
Obama I guess, though until now he asn't really changed anything. Anyone disagree?
Oh and people will probably hate me for this: but I'm still a Kanye fan. I don't listen to much hip-hop but I really like his stuff. I don't really listen to Taylor Swift, but I respect her as a musician. I do think the MTV incident was a bit fucked up, but that didn't really play into how much I like, or dislike, Kanye West.
obama is the breath of fresh air america needs, he is worldly wise, well read, a peacemaker, look at his community work in shicargo, and seems to be a decent man. Obama's election is the best thing this year, and probably of this decade. the worst thing of this decade? gordon brown's economic policy and prime minstership and the tsunami in asia.
Oooo I am still in ahh over so many people dying this year.
yup, and about swine flu, I'm glad I didn't get the vaccine. I've heard a few people say they had reactions to it after they got the shot.
Best Things:
Obama's Presidency, of course is both historical and awesome! I don't keep up with pop culture, so I can't think of too much more to put in the positives list.
The Not-So-Greats that happened this year:
One word for this one: Octo-mom. That screwed-up, low-down, dirty ho needs to be put in a mental hospital and have all 14 of her kids taken from her.
The celebrity deaths, of course sucked, especially Michael Jackson's death.
I don't know what's so great about a president who failed to stop two terrorist attacks in as many months on American soil, who withdrew soldiers from Iraq leaving the people there even more vulnerable to terrorist attacks than they were before, or who decided o impose a timetable on Afghanistan instead of taking as much time as is needed. He took three days to speak about the Christmas Day bombing, and a matter of minutes to attend to one of his injured mates. He's deporting people who were in Guantanamo Bay to Yemen, home of a terrorist called Anwar al-Awlaki, who is worse than Bin Laden. That terrorist had links with the pants bomber, the Fort Hood terrorist, the 9/11 terrorists, the 7/7 terrorists, and other terrorists. The fact that his race is being discussed shows that racism is still a problem in the US!
The highlight of this year for me is the rise of the English Defence League. Though in many ways they are an imperfect organisation, they represent the anger of people who are fed up of Islamic extremists in England. I am not a part of the group, because it is too secretive for my liking.
Another jhighlight is the brave heroism of two British soldiers in Afghanistan, James Brown and David Kirkness, who sacrificed themselves to stop Taliban terrorists blowing themselves up in a market full of Afghans who went there to buy things, and not to be blown to peaces.
The unreasonable expense claims of politicians ere revealed to us this year, and hopefully they will not be forgotten by voters at the next general election. I certainly do not intend to vote for parties that have not expelled every person who made an unreasonable expense claim.
Lowlights include the continued rise of Iran, all terrorist attacks, the piracy off Somalia, leniency towards Islamic extremists, North Korea testing nuclear weapons, the financial problems, idiots eurinating on war memorials, the failure of the Roman Catholic Church to punish all the priests involved in the sexual abuse of children in residential schools, the failure of the police, a school, a council and the MoD to take bullying seriously, the release of the Lockerby bomber and Ronny Biggs, and the Islamic extremists who protested against UK soldiers as they paraded through Luton,.
Obama's Inauguration was definitely the best thing to happen in 09!!!
as far as the Rihanna/Chris Brown incidend, Rihanna got mad because of a text...so lmao to whoever said she gave him herpes.
Gaga was also one of the best things this year; if I think of more I'll be back.
I wholeheartedly agree with the person who said they're still a huge fan of Kanye's music. I'm not a huge Taylor Swift fan by any means, but I do think he was out of line by acting in such a way when Taylor won her award on the VMA's.
also, I don't think Britney is given the credit she deserves. she has been through a lot because of stardom at such a young age...yet, she seems to be heading on the right track and that's a good thing. I still see the girl-next-door Britney, and I'm happy about that.
way to go senior. i totally agree with you on all counts.
as for pop culture. i love lady gaga. her music is original for commercially produced stuff. I also love cascada and nickelback of course.
as for stuff that should just go away. if i hear about john and kate plus eight one more time I am going to scream. She is such a bitch and treated her husband badly. i have a friend who showed her homes and she's just like her tv persona and that isn't a good thing.
octomom is a disgrace to motherhood. sorry i shouldn't be so wishy washy.
if i hear britany sing womanizer one more time, i swear i willgo crazy. that song gets stuck in my head and it won't go away!!!! then there is that damn 1 2 3 song that she now has out. she is another one for whom my sympathy is limmited. spoiled poor rich girl.
too bad that michael jackson died. however why is it that when we go ewe suddenly are perfect. people have mysteriously forgotten that he probably was a child molester and that he held his baby over a balcony rail?
I think oe one thing that never should have been in 2009.. This topic
good things in 2009:
lady gaga (really love her music!)
tinchy stryder and n-dubz
ipods
bad things:
peter and katy (that's been going on for months!)
womanizer (worst song ever, seriously!)
michael jackson's death
yes, fuck twilight... urg..
and, tailor swift winning best country artest of 09, sorry but no, it should of been kerry underwood!!
swine flue, was a histeria, but, that seems to be over now, and you don't hear it any more.
obama was the worst thign of 2009, you guys need to take a look at the news. higher taxes, the christmas bomber on the plain...? anyway, the best thing of 2009, that it's over :). well ok, there is a few good things of 2009 for me. i got saved. that was the best. also, i moved away from home and moved in with a friend :). oh yeah, more worse things of 2009 is if course all the deaths. esp mj :(. but anyway, 2010 will be better :). happy new year and god bless.
I was listening to a news review earlier, and I can confirm Michael Jackson is still dead.
I was glad to be volunteering when he died. It was on every radio station. I tuned the dial from one to another and they were all playing Michael Jackson songs. Even rock stations were playing his songs. Wimbledon was on so I thought I'd watch that. One of the Williams sisters had completed her match and what happened? The interviewer asked her about the Michael Jackson death. He's dying on the tennis too! I exclaimed. And all weekend and all next week, he was still dead. For a while I'd forgotten he was dead. It was as if he'd stopped been dead. But last night and today, it has emerged that Michael Jackson is still dead.
I'm sorry, did someone actually write that n-dubz was a positive thing in 2009?
Ahahahahahahahahahaha!
N-dubz = Worst. Fail. Ever.
Worst thing is Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize: so many others deserved it more.
I'm confused...what's n-dubz?
Worst? I don't know. People lauding Michael Jackson, say maybe a day or two after they called him a child-mollesting pervert? Ah so all one must do to clear one's name is die? That'd clear up the population problem right quick.
The biggest thing of 2009 and the worst thing I can sum up in one word. Obama. Only three more years (hopefully)!!
Agree100 percent with last post!
I know i'm like 9 months late, but I haven't been around... LOL
Good things:
1) uh....
Bad things:
1) Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize... seriously?
2) Swine flu
3) Celebrity death coverage... so famous people die... get over it!
4) John and Kate, though this could be carried over into 2010
Crazy Kate
Obama's inauguration (they actually screwed it up the first time). The Swine Flue (I refuse to say H1N1), The Octomom, John and Kate. And so far 2010 hasn isn't looking much better what with that mining accident in Virginia and then the BP oil spill. At least they ousted Tony Hayward for that but the new guy doesn't seem to be doing any better.
